Its One of my favourite sporting weekends of the year ... I even increased my sport subscription last week ... Its the Masters

The Golf fandom are buzzing about the New big Three ... Speith , McIlroy and Day

Speith the youngest of the 3 and the only one who has won it ... and the Current holder of the title and the US open . its quite hard to see beyond him winning Except ... Day ...is on the hot streak had been banging on the door of a major since 20011 .. Finally won a major( PGA ) last year and has been winning nearly everything since .McIlroy has been out of form since 2014 probably the most talented but maybe not as dedicated as the other two ... did his ligaments in Goofing around with friends last year ! Also I question will he ever win the Masters ... he must still have nightmeres about the 2011 Masters .

Then, there are the Banging on the door of a major, players ... Ricky Fowler is that close to being the next Major winner ... 2014 finished in the Top 5 in every Major ... But he could be the next Sergio or Dustin ... The Nearly men in top tournaments ... I really would love both to to win one but I doubt it .

Watch out for Pat Reed , Shane Lowry and Brandon Grace _ all have the ability to be a Golfing great ... and there is less pressure on these Guys because they are not expected to do it with the Big three around and have other country men expected to out preform them .

The have won a major and capable of winning again players ... Bubba Watson is a very dangerous player at Augusta and could go well again .. Big Phil can never be ruled out , Martin Kaymer is due another major at some stage . As is Luis Oosthuizen

But it could really be anyone else in the tournament !

Weather

Some thunderstorms are expected today

    Firsties!

...and I do expect a ban. I could use the rest.

I don't follow golf to much, but I love the Masters course, it is so beautiful. I like the young three and appreciate your synopsis, it will help me have a better understanding of what is what this weekend.

    Thanks ITC !

You are Banned .... Ignored and Reported !

So do I .. Its good that there is real competition and characters , and not overdependent on one player

    THIRD!!!!

Golf is so competitive now it's impossible to call this Juan. If I had to make a guess I would say Day. He seems to be the guy closest to the zone now, but that can change really quick.

But everyJuan in the tourney has a legitimate shot to win.
  5. libgoon's Avatar
I agree ... Completely ! anyone could win but Day is in the Zone at the moment ...

ordan Speith was excellent yesterday . Day was looking very good when he went through the front 9 in 31 but had a horrendous back 9 ... and is now 6 behind . I can only see Speith or McIlroy doing it !

But two of my picks are motoring nicely Lowry and Garcia

    Morning Lib!

I saw that the big three were on top of the leaderboard yesterday - sounds like a fun weekend of golf!

Speith looked good. If he plays each round like that he'll win, but this is the Masters and that is not likely.

I'm amazed that Fowler totally melted down. He was on my short list of favorites. Oh well. He's young and very talented and he has plenty of golf left to play.

I do think that Rory needs to relax some. He needs to quit worrying about where he's ranked and all that. He is so talented. He needs to just play for the love of the game. If he does that he will be hard to beat no matter where or who he plays. Lighten up young man and play for fun.

Then we have Phil lurking in the back but still within striking distance. Something about this tourney. It seems the older experienced guys always seem to make a run at it before it's over. Keep an eye on him and some of the others.

Have to agree Ricky really surprised me . I thought he would be close !

Big Phil is always one who could win .

    Howdy Cos!

Happy to hear all is well for you! Hope you made some serious $$ on the horses this season, or at least had a good time at the track.

I think I'll take advantage of the Fridayness of today and head over the the local brewpub and have a pint and watch some golf in a bit, they always have golf on

Hi Cone and LF. Sorry to all for my absence. No serious money made at track but fun was had. Good money was made working related to the track and other sports. Not sure if I'll do that again next year. In the meantime, it's time to relax, beautiful weather here, and I'll take it before the doom next (week, 384hrs, insert time frame here).

Yup only a couple were coping .... Very impressed with the young Cali guy DuChambeau ... and Ror tends to manage bad conditions well ...

Good morning and afternoon, everyone! Looks like a full house, even Cos!! Got a lot of work done yesterday, all but the arbor up and one tree planted in the front. Then had a very nice family BBQ with my family and some of Riley's, my SIL. Today we're going to finish the front and attack the overgrown backyard. And rescue my blueberry plants from the vines that are attacking them.

Breakfast's on the sideboard: beignets smothered in powdered sugar, banana or corn fritters, Pain perdu (French toast) also smothered in powdered sugar, smoked sausage, broiled boudin patties, frittatas with spinach, bacon and cheddar, Eggs Sardou, toast or bagels with creole cream cheese, cheesy grits with shrimp, grillades and grits, crawfish, cheese and mushroom omelets, bacon and grill cheese sandwich, baked egg in an avocado with and without crumbled bacon cheese Danishes, yogurt, fresh fruit and orange, apple or pineapple juice. Tea and/or Creole coffee. Enjoy!

Somebody tried to sneak off to another blog and hide brunch, but I found it - Yummy!

I'll just have some smoked sausage, broiled boudin patties, frittatas with spinach, bacon and cheddar, Eggs Sardou, grillades and grits, crawfish, cheese and mushroom omelet, bacon and grill cheese sandwich, baked egg in an avocado with crumbled bacon and coffee - TYVM Aislinn!

and then I'm going to get spiffed up for golf with some friends....

Jordan looked like he joined up with my golfing buddies on the 12th.

That second shot by Speith on 12 that barely even made the water was my normal play.
    Big surprise by him.
The English golfers did well, Willett, Westwood, Casey, Fitzpatrick.
Langer did well for someone as old as me.
  26. libgoon's Avatar
Poor Jordan . its funny that hole will stay with him and all golf fans for a long time ... I still remember Rorys shank up to the cabins in 2011 more than any of his wins ...

Really surprising win , The English did very well ... Didn't ever see Willett as a major winner ... I doubt he was even on Clarkes radar for the Ryder cup ....

I never saw that coming, but then again, I did say that anyJuan in the field had a legitimate chance at winning.

I am amazed at all the young talent out there now. They're coming out of the woodwork.

Last year's blog is a good place to start talk about Masters 2017.
I see Dustin Johnson, the favorite, who I liked, took a tumble and fell down some stairs, landing hard on his back. According to his agent he's resting uncomfortably and hopeful that he'll be able to play. He had to scratch back in 2012 due to a "jet-ski incident" back in 2012 when in the midst of a cocaine problem.
He's a scratch on all my fantasy golf teams.
I like Justin Rose, Snedeker, Speith, Henley. Maybe Hughes or McIlroy or Zach Johnson.
Looks to be windy, from the west, on Thursday and Friday.

Evening Cos, nice to see you. We survived todays round on nasty weather. Not much activity here.

Looking forward to the Masters myself. Hate that Dustin Johnson got hurt, I like him. Also like Speith, McIlroy, and others.

I have not done the fantasy golf yet. Still stinging from last falls fantasy football.
