Everyone knows that April is the heart of severe weather season and that being out in such weather can be severely foolish.

The SPC maps promise to be colorful this month….

National radar and Satellite as well…..

Just remember one thing before you head out the door...

Good Morning Cone. It is 58 and clear.

Pity the fool that does not like the new blog.

Looking like tomorrow night and Monday morning are going to be indigestion around here.

This doesn't look good for tomorrow, I believe Txjac is in Houston and they are in the bullseye, but there's plenty for LA as well. Busy day tomorrow.....

    Morning Kai!

Yes, that was what I was thinking too, this could be a bad event if they have it up to moderate today. There may be some areas in the high category tomorrow

Day 3 has all you Gulf Coasties in the Slight category, hope that doesn't go up......

Ais' BreakFastCast - all's quiet - for now....

Today: Sunny. Highs in the mid 80s. Southeast winds 5 to 15 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear in the evening then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 60s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

Good morning. Thanks for the new blog Cone.

Yeah, tomorrow doesn't look good for TX/LA. I do jaunder if the risk area will go up for Monday. Dr Forbes currently has TORCON values of 6 and 5 respectively for tomorrow and Monday.

If anyjuan needs a refresher since it differs from SPC, the number multiplied x 10 is the chance of a tornado within 50 miles of a given point. SPC probs are within 25 miles of a given point.

    Tomorrow:

    Monday:

Maybe it'll bust. When I was sweating bullets on January 22nd under a high risk and TORCON of 9 there were no tornado's anywhere nearby although GA had several with a few fatalities.

Excuse me while I momentarily channel my inner X and live in the past.

I have a bad feeling about this...

...and it doesn't look good either.

That's quite the line of DOOM on the radar, ouch! I was thinking the same thing about Monday - I hope the probabilities don't go up.
  11. kaiden's Avatar
Aug, not looking forward to Monday here. It looks like a matching set of Doom here. Severe storms, tornadoes, hail, and heavy rain.

At least this time the Cheetos are in the house and not in the truck like last Wednesday.

The heavy rain is my biggest concern, the road in here is actually an inch or so lower then the surrounding woods, if we get 3" or more in a short time it can flood.

It can get a little deeper, 4 inches for about 1000 feet, then I wont take the van or Impala through. It can take several hours to go down.

But I do have a new weapon, A Ram pickup that I bought last week, it sits a couple of inches higher then the van. I had to put nerf bars on it so my 5' 1" wife can get in.

The county says that there are not enough people live up here, about 35 houses, to dig some more ditches to the creek. Not enough people live up here to change the election of the county stupidvisors.

You always have quite the chore list kaiden. Switch gears for a few days - rent a back hoe and have some fun digging your own ditches along that stretch of road.

Yes! I appreciate a 'Man of Action'. Never depend on gov to do what you (and a few neighbors) can do for yourselves.

Just get landowners permission and go for it.

From what I understand, Juan can go through just about any amount of water with waders and a fly rod

Yes, I believe the 6" of floodwater does not apply. But you have to have hip waders and a fully functional fly rod and reel and it is even advisable to have a silly looking hat. There is where the exempt status lies.

Thanks Inda Cone..That was your character in the "Dewey! find him, or is he lost" detective novella I wrote a couple of years ago. I read it the other day and remembered a few characters that were here often, but not any more. We know about at least Juan who has passed. FtmyersGal, Spathy, Scooster, Atmo, PcolaDan, PrivateIdaho, Beell, Geep, Grillin in the eye, Srada, to name a few. Some of them were characters in the story.
At least Tulsa still pops in every Juance in awhile.

Enjoy your weekend. I will be extending till Tuesday..Till Tuesday. A new wave band of the 80's featuring the artistry of Juan Aimee Mann (who was hotttt!) Inspired by her love life or lack thereof, "Voices carry" made it to the top 10. They released 3 albums but none made it to the charts except the first. Beantown band, like American HiFi. Aimee Mann has stood at the edge of the spotlight for years, married to Juan of the Penn brothers. She is still doing concerts and is still hottt.

But I digress BIG time! I didn't just digress, I dropped of the edge on that Juan.

No weather here blah blah blah...The longer I am here, the more I don't like it. There is no place for me in the land of meism. I can't wait to go. After experiencing the traffic here, I am surprised there aren't as many shootings. Obviously some drivers really need it and are asking for it. But only rich people are in that big of a hurry and they didn't get rich by spending all their money on legal fees.

But I do what I can.
  16. kaiden's Avatar
Kkid, it is funny that you Mentioned Aimee Mann, one of the local classic rock stations played it yesterday. Great song. Thanks for the info on her.

Oh no, not down here in sunny S FL you don't. First you need drawings and engineering galore, a permit from the FL DEP, the County and the City, some Silt-screening, and whatever else the powers-that-be can come up with to cost you money. And if you don't, they'll FINE you.

When we were about to move in this house, my Dad had some mangroves trimmed across the way so we "would have a better view." Him being Mayor at the time, well, it caused quite a kerfluffel, and he had to pay a fine and go plant some mangroves somewhere else. And he didn't even kill them--just trim them. We get ours trimmed on our bank every year. You have to have a drawing on file, can only cut so much, and would be wise to hire professionals to do it!!!

This low spot in the road is 3/4 mile away, The guy that owns the property, many acres, between the road and the creek did give permission to dig a ditch, but they had more excuses then Carter has litter liver pills.

Permitting is not the big issue here, its votes to keep there over paid jobs.

I like our little neighbor hood, not many folks know we are here. Great neighbors, hardly any crime, and we watch out for each other.

When we were flooded in by the creek in 1998 hurricane Georges, the guy next to me worked at the airport, and twice the 5 days he had a copter bring in ice, gas and food.

Sounds like trying to trim a dead branch from an Oak tree around here. The Tree Nazzis show up and confiscate your chainsaw, then fine you into oblivion. ....even if it's a dead branch.

    Danged busybodies. We are doomed.

Don't get me started on the EcoNazis. I had a good long discussion with the FWC here on Limpkin status as protected species. Totally arbitrary and not supported by the BRG , biological reserarch group who actually formally classifies things through scientific methods, but protected none the less by somebody who thought they should be without a reason at the FWC. Ever had a Limpkin make a nest behind your house looking for a mate? If you have, you know where I am coming from.

    Good Morning Bunkerites!

I don't even know what a Limpkin is, I will have to look that Juan up here in a bit.

This doesn't look good, Aislinn is right in the middle of the moderate area, going to be a rough day.....

Ah doing ok ... Couple of minor health issues but working away ... Been hooked on setting up an android box researching how to get the most out of it ( I am quite nerdy like that) and watching stuff that is unavailable here ... was going to cut the cord but the Premier league Soccer in UK has worked out how to prevent streaming their product so Have to keep the pricey subscription for the time being.
