Stick a fork in it, The Season of DOOM is over! Now it’s time to sit back by the fire and enjoy the Frosty days ahead, or not.
Long term predictions from the CPC are showing the south to be warm and dry through the winter…..

As we well know, it only takes one deep cold intrusion to freeze everything solid, especially in S. Fl. We’ll have to keep an eye on the radar and hope no blue blobs make it too far south.

Abominable weather ahead? I guess we'll just have to Bumble along to find out!

Catching fireflies was always a favorite pastime in the summer, those and tadpoles, and snakes, and spiders, etc.........

Possibly some fun times for the middle of the country, maybe even T will get some wintry weather, just have to wait and see...

I just had a crisis. Major noise in the kitchen. I was in my office. I’m used to the occasional distraction but this was loud and protracted. Since there arose such a clatter I ran down the stairs to see what was the matter. And what to my wondering eye should appear but cat bowls pushed everywhere and not much good cheer....so I fed them. Disaster averted. Christmas saved.

I’ll take all the snow you can throw at me. Ice?!?

I’m laying in Cheetos and slim Jim’s along with flashlights. If I’m stuck here in the cold alone I will be covered in leopards. They use me solely as a source of warmth.

Always best to hoard just in case - Juan can never have to many Slim Jim's. Better make sure you have enough Kitteh food so that you don't become their midnight snack.

Looks like the Philippines are seeing some tropical action in Triple K's absence.....

    Good Morning Bunkerites!

Those kittehs might be picky eaters ATM, but lack of food may change the menu. Goofy still calling for some nastiness to head your way T, and this is the first of 2......

Ais' BreakFastCast - I think you might need that coat today, pretty chilly......

Today: Cooler. Partly sunny. Highs around 50. North winds up to 10 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Lows around 30. Light winds.

I'm in denial. I have way too much to do before Christmas. This can't be allowed to happen. I am speaking to God about it. I feel sure the next model run will be better.

I have frozen in the dark for a week before. I was smart enough to get the last hotel room right when it happened but my previous animals would have been home alone freezing in the dark. i wound up giving the room to friends and putting plastic in doorways to cordon off a room and keep fireplace going 24/7. The beasts occupied the best spots closest to the fire. i clearly would have been pet food had I attempted to alter our relative positions. Ice storms equal anarchy. You couldn't even buy food. Grocery stores would take you around with a flashlight if you could pay cash which they took by hand. And young people aren't great at counting change. I have a bad feeling about this.

Note to self: Option 2 supplies

My storm cellar has a huge battery operated light. If you're looking for me I'll be drinking in the cellar. I named it the Weatherbunker - wrote it on the door, lol.

Good morning, afternoon and evening, everyjuan! When I was growing up in the Catskills in upstate NY we had tons of snow and also ice and ice storms, but we didn't loose electric. My sister still lives there and says they get less snow and less ice and lose electric now. Snow or ice down here in Louisiana shuts the place down. I'm fine driving in it but you won't catch me on the roads with the drivers who don't know how. It's 41 degrees this morning, yep, I'm borrowing my son's winter coat for today!

So far my kittens are being angels. I'm sure they're plotting and scheming but so far have gone from a bit feral to very affectionate, well, one is very affectionate and the other one wants attention only when it wants it. But the demand for food? I know that cry very well! I have a feeling as they continue to come out of their shell and hide less, the more chaos will begin.

Breakfast’s on the sideboard: Eggs Sardou, corned beef hash cooked with fried potatoes and onions, melted cheese and fried eggs on top, large fluffy cinnamon buns, English muffin breakfast pizza, blueberry scones with lemon glaze, burrito omelet stuffed with sautéed vegetables, chorizo and pepperjack cheese with salsa verde sauce over the top, orange or apple juice, fresh fruit, tea or coffee. Enjoy!

Don't get too worried T, it's the Goofy and it's a long way out, it'll change and change and change some more - 6z run is a good example, looks like maybe some snoh in this run, or maybe nothing at all...

Ever thought about a small genny? Those can come in handy, but won't heat the house.

    Morning Aislinn!

Those kittehs are just getting you right where they want you and then, as you said, the games will begin. They are so entertaining, if they just didn't destroy everything in the process

    BreakFast!

I'll have Eggs Sardou, corned beef hash cooked with fried potatoes and onions, melted cheese and fried eggs on top, English muffin breakfast pizza, burrito omelet stuffed with sautéed vegetables, chorizo and pepperjack cheese with salsa verde sauce over the top, and some coffee - TYVM and stay warm!

Morning. A well-deserved 4 day weekend here. Been chaotic at work (what's new?) with everyjuan trying to squeeze in last minute projects prior to the year-end freeze (unrelated to weather) which begins at midnight tonight.

Fresh fruit for breakfast sounds nice Aislinn - thanks! I've been buying the pineapple, kiwi, strawberry combo for some time now at Publix.

Ice? Been through many a freezing rain "event" living in Missouri in the 80's/90's. Never lost power from juan and felt the sun glistening post-storm on trees/grass,etc was a beautiful sight to behold. Juance the temps warmed there was the drippity-drip along with chunks falling in sheets. Looking back, having been plus/minus 14 years old at the time (and holding) it may not have been a good idea standing beneath the trees when juan could have snapped in half at any moment from 1/2"+ of a coating. I'd grab some low hanging branches which would snap off with minimal effort.

You’re right about the Genny. I need to get out there today. I would have paid a huge price back then. I’m not that competent on how to install but I’m sure I can get help. The one time I tried to buy one Lowe’s was out. Of course So was the lights, electricity, all refrigeration and heat. Just a tip, that’s a poor time to try and buy a genny.

Aug it is an incredibly beautiful sight. If you survive. I have the most gorgeous picture of of bedsprings propped against a barbed wire fence with sun behind it. I’m searching for it.

    Fixed it for you.

PS: I'm not sure bed springs and barbed wire belong together.

my badAug. But they were nevertheless.

It wasn’t a digital photo. I would have to search tomes of photos. You will just have to take my word for it.

It was so pretty and unusual I pulled off the road to take a picture.

I went through some pretty epic ice storms that were probably historic, but nobody cared about such things in those days, they just went on about their business without telling everyJuan else how wrong and stupid they were. It was a nice time, except when Juan went out into the epicness and fell on Juan's keester.

I hope the Gulf Coasties get that soaker, they need it and it's going to be a long dry winter if Nina(or is it Pinto Bean?) has anything to do with it

Hmmmmm, might want to ask Mr. Claws to deliver that genny a little early....

    Tulsa,

Get a Honda Genny. They are very quiet. I have the EU7000is. Think of it as a good luck charm-- once you buy one, you won't need it. Been thru 2 hurricanes and only lost power for 3 hours--never cranked up the genny.

Here is a general description. You want the inverter so it can safety run anything with electronics (just about anything---even a microwave--def. a computer.):

The newest in Honda's EU series portable generator line is the superquiet EU7000iS inverter generator. Perfect for home backup, RVs, Camping, Tailgating and other Outdoor Events. The innovative inverter technology allows your sensitive devices to be protected with clean technology. Convenient push button starting with optional remote start.
