Stick a fork in it, The Season of DOOM is over! Now it’s time to sit back by the fire and enjoy the Frosty days ahead, or not.
Long term predictions from the CPC are showing the south to be warm and dry through the winter…..

As we well know, it only takes one deep cold intrusion to freeze everything solid, especially in S. Fl. We’ll have to keep an eye on the radar and hope no blue blobs make it too far south.

Abominable weather ahead? I guess we'll just have to Bumble along to find out!

It's pretty chilli in Navarre as of now.

Of course all of you know that. We've had ample warning of the "ARCTIC FRONT". I've actually needed my wind breaker when I've went outside. I wouldn't be surprised if multiple homeless folks were found half frozen tomorrow morning. Kind of like when me and my buds went on camping trips in the boonies in the old days. I would suggest that these folks light a fire. That's what we always did. If you get a big enough fire you can ride out the biggest blizzard. Take it from me, because I KNOW. I've done it many many times before.

I can also say that the basic card board box homeless individual shelter can help Juan survive even the worst of weather.

Just don't ask me how I know these things. It's just the way it is.

Sorry not to be on much. My new grandchild Fisher made his entry into the world. He has dark hair and dimples and was caught flirting in the nursery.

    I expect it’s the pattern.

    Good Morning Bunkerites!

Congratulations T! Flirting in the nursery, gotta love it!

The weather is frightful this morning, Gulf Coast is covered in green and north of there is all below zero blue, and it's coming here. Just a matter of time....

At one point it showed 4 times, then 2 disappeared when I hit refresh. Otherwise I would have quadruplets.

Man the California situation is critical. I’ve spent time in the area with the worst fire and it’s gorgeous. I haven’t heard if Getty museum was impacted but the art, artifacts, and historical pieces are irreplaceable. I hope they got the best of them out. I feel bad for California.

And good morning Cone and all.

As an irreverent aside I anticipate seeing Weather Channel Mets out in force wearing gas masks and asbestos type suits assuming the stance against actual 80mph winds. It could just be my imagination. Possibly nothing like that.

    Morning folks.

It's currently 42 and breezy in Navarre. We had about 5 hours of light rain and drizzle yesterday. Supposed to be about the same today.
  11. InTheCone's Avatar
    Morning T!

I just saw a fly over of the fire in that area and the fire is on the opposite side of the freeway from the Getty center and the wind was not blowing towards it, so it looks okay for now.

Wild fires are a natural part of the California ecosystem. Stupid people keep putting things in the way of them. They deserve it. It's part of their education.

The second coming of the Polar Vortex has flipped the switch on the lake effect machine....or possibly nothing like that at all

Good morning, afternoon and evening, everyjuan! It's 42 degrees this morning, the same as it was when I went to bed last night and yesterday at noon-ish. Congratulations, Tulsa! Pictures?

Breakfast’s on the sideboard: Eggs Benedict, bacon, thick slices of smoked honey ham, sausage casserole, smoked trout hash, seasoned home fries, pecan sticky buns, corn fritters, herbed egg potato bake, cinnamon oatmeal, skewered fresh fruit, tea or coffee, flavored creamers on the side. Enjoy!

Morning Dr. Mark, Blakels and Aislinn!

Yeah, there's just no getting around those fires out there, huge wet season last year = explosive growth. Natural dry season comes in and turns it into tinder, just add spark of any sort = explosive fires. Just the way it is, just like 'Naders in the plains and 'Canes here.

#ThomasFire has burned over 65,000 acres and has 0% containment. Mulitple evacuations in place throughout Ventura County. @ReadyVC has most recent lists of mandatory evacuations. #NASA

They can just keep that crazy polar vortex up in the frozen north where it belongs I do not like cold weather, which is anything less than 60. I'm just not used to it!

Better have some breakfast to add a layer of insulation!

I'll have Eggs Benedict, bacon, thick slices of smoked honey ham, sausage casserole, smoked trout hash, seasoned home fries, corn fritters, herbed egg potato bake and coffee - TYVM Aislinn!

    Good morning Cone.

Pearl Harbor Day has dawned to overcast, cold and very soggy.

Yep. Folks here build palatial homes on Santa Rosa Island (barrier island) and then whine and cry when a cane smashes them and then demand the rest of the population subsidize their insurance even though the folks building out there are usually the most well off. Makes absolutely no sense.

In the old days folks built little cinder block cottages on the island and they were virtually cane proof. The surge would blow in the front door and sweep all the contents out the back door. Afterwards folks would come in and remove all the sand and the place would be just like it was before the storm (minus much of the furnishings of course). They didn't even have any insurance in those days. There are still a few of those left on Pensacola Beach, but most of them are gone.

Things are crazy these days and getting crazier all the time.

And it's only going to get worse. Much worse.

The Weather Channel just said that we "may get snow".

I'm considering issuing a rare offseason "CLEAR THE SHELVES" warning. If nothing else it should stimulate the local retail economy.

I actually hope we do get snow. It would be hilarious watching the panic of the Gulf Coasties and I don't have to be anywhere or do anything these days, so the comic relief would be much appreciated.

We were just back there this summer--you know how I love it there. I feel so awful. Pass the Getty Center all the time going up and down the 101.

    Ban over.

Exactly. Unnecessary panic is the best and most humorous kind. We can always hope for snow and for it to stick. Since this entire state is sand, the poor kids here can't have rock fights. They deserve to have a good snowball fight. They may even learn to make them more effective by placing hard objects inside the snow balls.

I hope for their sake we get snow.

We're supposed to have a clipper come through Friday night into Saturday bringing us 2-3 inches of snow. It's bad enough here with the first accumulating snow of the season, I can't even imagine what it would be like down there. I remember several years ago Atlanta got about 4 inches and it was like Armageddon.

I was going to reply when I was rudely interrupted. But I agree about building in a really hazardous place and impacting insurance rates. I’m not looking forward to my next insurance bill.
