Stick a fork in it, The Season of DOOM is over! Now it’s time to sit back by the fire and enjoy the Frosty days ahead, or not.
Long term predictions from the CPC are showing the south to be warm and dry through the winter…..

As we well know, it only takes one deep cold intrusion to freeze everything solid, especially in S. Fl. We’ll have to keep an eye on the radar and hope no blue blobs make it too far south.

Abominable weather ahead? I guess we'll just have to Bumble along to find out!

We had a FROPA pass through a few hours ago. Before it got to us the FROPA blob split in two. Juan half went north of us and the other went south of us. We didn't get a drop. It was a text book example of The Great Blobular Divide.

Oh well. Maybe we'll get some rain next year.

Good morning, afternoon and evening, everyjuan! I used to think I'd have to be up extra early to beat Cone, but you're up as early as he is, Mark! I got up at 4:30, but doing dogs and cleaning. My plan had been to sleep in...

    Still no sign of cow.

Breakfast’s on the sideboard: country ham with red-eye gravy, biscuits and grits, sausage polenta with nested eggs, egg and sweet potato scramble, pancakes with butter and syrup, strawberries and cream oatmeal, bacon wrapped donuts, bagels with cream cheese and jelly, fresh fruit, tea and coffee, flavored creamers to the side. Enjoy!

Good Morning Dr. Mark & Aislinn!

I actually don't post as early as I get up on bike ride days, I'm usually out of bed by 3:30, some days 3:45. I have to have a few option #2 beverages to make it until 5:00

I wish Kai would drop in, I sure hope he and Dee are doing okay.

The cow hunt lingers on! All this eager anticipation of it's imminent capture is making me hungry!

    BreakFast Time!

I'll have country ham with red-eye gravy, biscuits and grits, sausage polenta with nested eggs, 2 dozen bacon wrapped donuts, and coffee - TYVM Aislinn and have a great day!

If the Goofy has it's way there's going to be some serious cold heading south as we get near Christmas......

    Good morning Aislinn & Cone.

Out west he would be called a "range cow". Many of the ranchers don't own a lot of land. They own the water holes (an extremely valuable thing out west) and they lease large swaths of grazing rights of the adjoining range from the feds. The cows just go and graze where they want and are pretty much left alone. They get tough or succumb to the various predetors. The ranchers will round them up in spring and tag the calves and fix the males (if you know what I mean. I don't like to think about that personally). They'll pick out the steers they want to send to market and begin fattening them up.

Ever since my extended trip to Oceana my body clock has been screwed up and has not yet recovered. I sleep when I feel like it and wake when I feel like it. I've kind of gotten used to it.

    It is what it is.

I'll have ham, gravy, biscuits, grits, a tall stack of pancakes, 6 bagels w/cream cheese, fresh fruit and a pot of regular coffee please.

    Thank You very much.

    It was what it was.

My body clock is not in sync with UTC. More like UTNC.

I want to sleep when I should be working, and I want to work when I should be sleeping and I generally want to goof off all the time when I am not sleeping, even when I am working. Lately, I have been getting sleepy while goofing off.
    How dare it!!??
I have more trips planned to the Philippines.
    I'm DOOM!
They say that your body is resting and counts as sleep time when you are lying awake trying to sleep. But I think they just say that so you will relax and not cause you further anxiety, so you can really sleep.

That never works. The doubt keeps me awake and then reminds me of all the stuff "they" say that may or may not be true, but there is always some schmuck in our lives who is always spouting such nonsense, because to them, we must appear ignorant, which makes me mad and keeps me awake even more!

They also say if you can't sleep, you should remember the end of a good movie that has a peaceful happy ending and keep thinking about it and it will make you happy and content and it will help you fall asleep if you ponder on it.

That may work for some but not for me. I start remembering the whole movie. Then the bad parts, like when "Goose" dies.
    Then I start wondering why.
Then I can't sleep because of that.

I was never able to fool myself with psycho-babble, my mind knows what I am trying to do as it goes from one thought to another, solving complex problems, coming up with new ideas and engineering solutions to those ideas, it is as if my mind was a wild mustang, galloping through the countryside bounding from rock to rock, grassy knoll to valley to hill and plain. I cannot keep up with it. I remember strokes of brilliance and genius during those sleepless preponderances, and perhaps, if I was not so intent on keeping the lights off and my eyes closed, I should have taken notes, I can guarantee I would be a very wealthy man by now, but no! In the morning, I can't remember a darn thing.

I blame it on lack of sleep.

I blame it on lack of sleep.

I learned to sleep at anytime, anywhere and on anything in just about any conditions when I was a young defender of American motherhood. With Juan exception, back then I could never sleep in the rain. The rain covered the sounds of the bad guys moving around. It also covered the sounds of us moving around so it seemed that everybody was always moving around when it rained. Things always happened in the rain in those days so it always made me to alert to sleep.

But that was then. I have grown soft with time and age and now rain puts me to sleep like nothing else does. Rain with thunder is even better. Throw in an approaching hurricane and a couple of cases of Default Option #2 supplies and it is even better.

If all else fails, I have found that lying down on my back and reading a technical manual usually does the trick.

    I hope this helps.

    Carry on.

If Cone gets any better he will approach Dr. Kid in his blog slaying skills.

Maybe it was the snow on the Gulf Coast thing that did it. I don't know. What I do know is that snow on the Gulf Coast would be hilarious. The panic of the locals would be historic, epic and unprecedented.

    Morning Dr. Mark!

73 degrees and humid here on the sand bar. You get a lot of fog up there in the winter, it's pretty rare down here with the water breezes keeping things stirred up most of the time. I HATE driving in that stuff

Ais' BreakFastCAst - looking nice with possibility of rain next week before the big chill settles in.....

Today: Sunny. Areas of dense fog in the morning. Highs in the mid 70s. Light winds becoming northeast up to 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 40s. East winds up to 5 mph in the evening becoming light.

It's very nice here. Too bad there is already a Niceville. Of course there is a lot of things that aren't nice here, like traffic and rude people.
I heard someone pounding on someone's door down the hall. I am a patient man but after several minutes, I was getting perturbed, disturbed and unnerved! I opened my door to take a peek, because I was about to call the cops! But it WAS the cops! Orlando's finest.
They must not have watched very many cop movies, because every Juan knows, if knocking doesn't work, then the SOP is to kick down the door!
Must be rookies, Juan of them was a female officer. I don't think women have any propensity at all toward kicking in doors, they are usually the Juans who are behind doors that are kicked in. Women don't have to kick in doors anyway, many of them have doors opened FOR them, so why kick it in? It leaves such a mess! From my limited experience, I know women don't like to leave a mess, except in a man's head..
They stopped pounding the door and took to hiding in an alcove, hoping the occupant would come out and then they could "nab" (To subdue by force and immobilize. Or if you are from the South and have ever heard of Sheriff Roscoe P. Coletrain, then you are familiar with the term "Cuff 'em and stuff 'em!." It is Juan of the few lines of dialog I remembered from the series. I was mostly putting up with the lame screenplay so I could get a glimpse of Catherine Bach, who played Daisy Duke.) the suspect and take her or him "downtown."
    I don't know what happened.
See, cops carry guns and are allowed to shoot them at the bad guys, the Cops are supposed to be careful where they shoot so they don't shoot a bystander. The bad guys are uninhibited in this regard and they only shoot their targets or issue stray bullets. I did not feel like being the dummy who gets shot by a stray bullet last night. It would have been embarrassing to say the least.

I just went back to doing what I was doing before all the commotion.

I will be here a few more days. I don't mind working weekends so I can get done sooner, but the folks at the shop where I installed a machine do not work weekends. They will not consider it or talk about it. It reminds me of a husband wanting his wife of 30 years to make love in the morning. He can wish all he wants, it just is never going to happen.

I may be in the bad stuff this month. I will be in such places as Boone, NC, Spartanburg, SC, some place in Jersey, Saskatchewan Canada, Dayton and hopefully down the street from the artist formerly known as Destin Jeff's. Possibly Green Bay and maybe Utah. I may take an airplane to Wisconsin and Utah. I will have to rent a $#%$@& rental car, but they never offer me free upgrades anymore like they used to and I end up driving a mustang convertible, which may not be an upgrade with 6" of snow on the road..

I will have to admit I am sick of Christmas music, in the Philippines, they start playing it starting Sept 1. Here they started November 1. There is only a limited number of bona-fide Christmas songs to go around and even at that, "they" borrowed some non-Christmas "winter" songs, such as "Jingle bells" and "Winter Wonderland" and have perverted their use as such and now they have been joined to the other songs which have but one purpose and that is to take over your mind and refuse to leave, so that you will not be able to stop hearing them in your head. Your steps will match the cadence of the beat of the particular song, windshield wipers will seem to be setting the tempo and your hapless brain will seek to play the song and match the tempo. It plays in the background while your mind is occupied, but it is still there, and you may even surprise yourself when for no reason at all, you blurt out: "Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh-eh!" as your semi consciousness thrusts itself into the here and now and you fall under its spell and like Bernie, in the movie "Weekend at Bernies" your body, brain and feet are all moving under it's control!

So, like some science fiction movie where a person is taken over by an alien entity if exposed to its influence, I avoid Christmas music. But just as in the science fiction movie, it is everywhere and like the last convert to retain his human identity and control over himself, they are out to GET ME!

I was almost infected the other day, when a young man with a goofy grin on his face and a Christmas pin on his lapel, strode into the elevator. His phone began ringing the tune "Deck the halls....etc" I quickly grabbed it from his hand and tossed it out as the door was closing. He followed it out after saying "Hey!"

    That was CLOSE!

I don't want to be a "Christmas Zombie." You know, people who go out and buy things that nobody likes for people they don't like and for people they do like but it is OK as long as they spend a lot of money and go into debt and generally wear themselves out for it. If you love someone and feel like giving them a gift, why wait until Christmas, hmmm? It's the music I tell you!
Why do people get depressed and bemoan their lack of financial judgement afterwards? I'll tell you! It is because the siren songs of Christmas stop playing January 2 every year. But the greedy bastards start it up earlier each year, because the "take" from the year before wasn't enough!

You can think clearly if you don't let it get to you, the music that is.

Well, I have to get busy. I need to go to the store for provisioning but there is a bell ringing Santa at the entrance and he has a boom box playing Christmas songs and there is no escaping it. But he turns it off and goes to lunch pretty soon, so I am going to change the CD for one of my AC/DC CDs, but I can't decide which, Ballbreaker or TNT? Sure they will get another xmas CD, but meanwhile i can get my stuff and get out.

See how clearly you can think without those blasted songs brainwashing
    you?

A picture of Daisy duke for those too young to have enjoyed it.
  19. InTheCone's Avatar
    Howdy Triple K!

Christmas music is ubiquitous during the "Holiday" season which starts pretty much anytime after Labor Day and ends whenever everJuan can't take even Juan more minute. I feel bad for the people who have to work in places where the Christmas music is on non-stop for all that time, I'd want to gouge out my ears.

I hope you can manage to stay out of the wurst of the cold. It's even supposed to make it down to the pester the Gulf Coasties......

I almost never watch TV but I’m glued to it past couple of days to my detriment. The main thing that I’ve learned is that you should be sure and let your Dr know if you’ve had a liver transplant before taking xarelto. I wanted to pass that along.

In case any of you that had a recent transplant forgot to mention it to your Dr.

    That’s all. Carry on.

The Juan on the left resembles my daughter. Most likely she's not as smart though. My girl is pretty smart. She reminds me of it all the time and compares her smartness to mine in ways that do not complement me, but what the he11. She's a woman, so I let her think what she wants to think or let her think that she's convinced me that she is. That's the way to play the game if Juan is smart. Juan never knows with gals. To be honest, she probably doesn't really think she is smarter than me, but figures if she can convince me that she is I will continue to pay some of her expenses and buy her expensive things. There's always a bottom line and ulterior motive with the women folk. Even those that love you. That's just the way things are. I've kind of gotten used to it.

I gotta go. My wife and daughter are calling. Later on folks.
