As the last full month of winter rolls in the question remains – lots more frosty days ahead? Or, will severe season get an early start? The early bets look to be on more visits from the old man of the north.

After everyone thaws out a bit we’ll be on to severe season and the CPC thinks there will be some moistcha’ available…..

Time to watch the radar for frozen white invaders or AOD’s – pick your poison

Here in the bunker, we know where to go for any extreme weather event - To the nearest Bunker Bar

**** IMPORTANT NOTE **** The Bunker hosting runs out at the end of this month and provisions will need to be made if we are to extend our run of insanity.

Thanks for the new blog. I saw the note about the end of the month. I'm not much of an IT guy, but I stand ready to assist if there's anything useful I can do. Please advise....

Weather here is cold, followed by more cold, with some occasional wet and colder.

Mardi-Grass goes into full swing soon. It is early this year. (sigh) We have stocked in sufficient supplies, and should survive through at least the initial waves of revelry, human debris, and stupidity.
    Morning LF & Barkeep!

I t really amounts to a payment of $70 or so to keep the hosting going for the next 3 months. I'm hoping Dewey will activate the pay button so that we can all kick in.

Do you run the whole time LC? That's almost a double marathon I used to love to run long distance(before my knees said - NO MORE), but that's crazy
  3. InTheCone's Avatar
I just checked - the pay button seems to be active(I did not check out), but I would like to confirm with the Dew to make sure he's getting the $$ and is going to continue the hosting.

Hey DEW! Just give the word and we'll host another Funding and Pledge drive. I've got a bushel of those tote bags left over from the last Juan.

Alas I do not run the whole time. I use a 7 min jog/3 min walk combo. I hope to finish around 10 hours.

If it's truly a 16 mph tail wind, consider bringing an umbrella. Open it to have the tailwind pull you along for a bit of a boost. If you have to go up-wind at any point in the race, just collapse the umbrella.

It would feel a bit like running downhill. Over the long haul of the race it could cut significant time from your run.

I wish I had parachute pants to take full advantage of the wind.

Ok, I just finished up a scan of channels on cable tonight. It is truly amazing what is on the tube now days. Aside from all the abnormal, and maldaptive, crazy shows about every fringe thing available to exploit, this one caught my eye in amazement. Abraham Lincoln Vs zombies? C'mon man!

And anyone wonders why kids can be so F'd up now days?
Updated 02-03-2018 at 04:40 AM by Ossqss (I bet 75% of kids from the 2,000's on have no clue who he actually was in our history.... A Carrington event would cure that)

We already have quite the Zombie horde among us.....

At my age, I am fascinated by this behavior. At any event many of the people are taking video and are not the least bit engaged in what is going on, then they post it so that they can say "I was there and you weren't" Crazy stuff.
  14. hurricat's Avatar
Oss, maybe it was based on a book. I believe there was a novel out a few years ago that had Lincoln as a vampire hunter.

    Morning HCat!

I just never thought of Abe as a zombie killer, somehow it just doesn't fit, but I wasn't there so maybe he hack up some undead

Good morning, afternoon and evening, everyone! No way I can run anymore, knee won't let me, but I used to love running. I have three friends, one is 62 and runs marathons almost monthly, and often beats the college kids. The other two run in the 100 mile marathons, and make it to the end, they're 61 and 62. Everytime they post another race's end I click on the love or wow facebook button.

Yesterday we held our Board Meeting outside along the rock wall as there is sun there rather than in the back which has a bench to sit on but much colder in the shade. Hence we had front row seats to the most bizarre non accident any of us had seen before. A log truck comes up the hill and as it gets closer to us I realized a log had shifted off and was dragging. As I pointed it out the truck began to pull over next to our office. I said guess he realized it. Then with a puff a black smoke the truck dies. We just sit and watch as the guys as debating as to what he blew. As it's on a hill, we stop the Board meeting as the two guys go one up the hill and one down to direct traffic around him. The police of course then come, didn't have to call them as he was in sight of the police station. Driver says he ran out of diesal. Okay... Very young guy. He decides to back the truck down the hill to across from our office which is a large open grassy area and park it half on the grass so traffic can get by. But he then runs the mirror into the telephone pole and jams it there, as he was making a slight turn, he is angled out more into the road now. His log truck was not one long bed, but two. Police officer is shaking his head. A friend and I take him up to a gas station and he buys two gas cans and then diesal for them. The guys are still playing traffic cops for the police officer. Diesal doesn't get the truck started and we then find out the truck is not licensed, it belongs to his cousin as his own truck is in the shop. Police then do a weight check and it's overloaded. Both the two trailers only have one strap to hold the logs on, hence why the one was in the process of falling off. He thought he'd make it to into Texas with it. The 18 wheeler tow truck shows up finally, closest one is an hour away and proceeds to haul it away with the police with lights on behind it as there are about six logs tilted skyward in the process of sliding off with literally no strap even holding them on. When we were taking him to get gas I told him to consider it a blessing from God, while it was going to probably cost him a ticket or two, better than having that log fall off and cause and accident or kill someone. That was before we knew all the rest of it! No idea if the kid, who is from Mississippi, ended up in jail or stranded in town.

Breakfast's on the sideboard: Biscuits and sausage gravy, steak tip, onions, mushrooms, peppers and cheese omelets, scrambled eggs with peppers and bacon bits with salsa on the side, venison sausage patties and maple smoked bacon, honey raisin outmeal, large fluffy cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit kabobs, tea or coffee. Enjoy!

    Morning Aislinn!

That's one way to spice up a meeting - quite a story!

    Breakfast time!

I'll have some Biscuits and sausage gravy, steak tip, onions, mushrooms, peppers and cheese omelets, scrambled eggs with peppers and bacon bits with salsa on the side, venison sausage patties and maple smoked bacon, and coffee - TYVM! Looks like the incoming rain will put a damper on any outdoor meetings today.

People already asking about the Atlantic seasonal #hurricane forecast-- it is too early! Just look at how poor some #ElNino predictions were just last year. The #LaNina was not well forecast-- if you can't get that right- your hurricane forecast is doomed!

Hey Cone! Supposed to have obedience class today. It was rained out last week, hate to see it rained out again today. Though we really do need the rain still.

Good morning all! or half or whoever is still here...

I finished my job in Wilmington. Did a drive by "gawk" at the Battleship NC. I wanted to tour it, but I ran out of time, My plane leaves Tuesday and I was pressed into service to inspect a CNC machine in Orlando for a buyer in St Joe MI. So, if it is good, I will install it when I come back from the Philippines. So, since the cheapest hotel in Orlando is way over $100 per night, I opted to stay in Daytona beach tonight for a lot less.
I'll check in later, I am late checking out....

Whoa LC! That's a long ways!! My right knee objects every time I run. I miss it. Now I eat Snickers instead but it's not working out very well for me. I've been gone a lot. Busy on a very rushed consulting project and very tired but almost through. Thanks for the blog Cone. You rock!!

I will contribute too. I'll try it. If The Dew confirms i'll let you know.

Just a flyby. Couldn't read back far. I'll be through with project Tuesday but working 24/7 until then. But getting paid pretty well so I don't mind!! I need new shoes.

Genius, Tulsa!!!! Being a sugar and carb freak, I could run forever on Snicker's bars!! Maybe throw in a few Butterfingers to break the monotony. I bet I could even break records with all that sugar in my body!

Lawd ham mercy. The deed is done. 50 miles and man was it cold (25 at race start but a balmy 35 and sunny by afternoon).

Took almost 11 and a half hours. My ankle is swollen from plain ol tendonitis and metabolism is temporarily broken (can't regulate temp too well). In other words, par for the course.

Sugar is a big help. Especially Mt. Dew and chocolate peanut butter wafers.

Triple K next time u re in the 'Old North State', we need to get together.

    Well done LC!

I hope you have a warm spot to curl up and rest. One of the best things about finishing a race is that you can eat as many carbs as you want, guilt-free.

Well it looks like the Cheetos Company may be in for a difficult year of few sales. No stocking up needed. I'm in a quandary, the Season gave me a logical reason to need to go out and buy Cheetos. I am ed! Beignet didn't see his shadow!

    Good Morning Bunkerites!

Good Job LC! There's no way my knees could take that kind of abuse, bike riding is where it's at for me these days and I'm just happy that I can still do that.

Howdy T! Nice to hear that you are being well paid for your efforts!

The eastern side of the US is getting hammered by a nasty blast o' winter this morning....
