April/May:April Drencheroos & May Mayhem?

Tis’ the season for – rain & possibly some pre-tropical mischief, which means more – rain. Any which way we shake it out…..

Unless, of course, we have an epic drought – which seems likely in Fl. Then there’s the ’Naders wandering about causing mayhem, so we’ll have to keep an eye on the SPC maps….

More snoh for the north? Long term trends seem to think it’s going to be a chilly April, so gawking at the national radar to see what’s going on is always a good idea……

It's just a matter of time....

A magnitude 5.3 #earthquake just hit off the coast of Southern California with shaking felt in Los Angeles, according to the USGS. There is no #tsunami danger.

I've been hearing a lot of chatter in Twitterville over the last couple of days about La Nina going out and El Nino coming in by fall. That would be welcome if it happens soon enough, no 'Canes for anybody this year would be a good thing even though an El Nino doesn't guarantee anything, it does help some.

Hey, Cone! El Nino would be very welcomed here. We had enough canes last year, a year off would be nice.

    Good morning all Peeps!

Had some boomers come through early this AM. Bunker is still wet from his walk. He's not afraid of Thunder at all (which can be a good thing). But, he's equally un afraid of getting wet. When his body clock says "WALK NOW!" we have to go walk. ....even if it's storming outside. (sigh) ...and boy howdy was it storming this morning.

Morning all. Sounds like Bunker is an alpha male Barkeep. My little 30lb pooch hates getting her feet wet, much less the rest of her body.

Potential BALOWAR incoming around dinner time. As the esteemed Levi would say "we shall see".

    Wouldn't that be nice...?

Been keeping odd hours trying to work, have a vacation and visit with my insomniac son..

It has been cold, snowy (when it isn't raining) and harsh.

The other day when severe weather was forecast, the wind was blowing the at the window of my room in the hotel and wailing and whooshing like an olde tyme scary movie. In the midst of the wind blowing I thought I heard a bass thrumming, like a big block V8 at idle. In the morning dullness of my senses, I began to theorize that it was something else and began to sort out what this might purport to be!
It was getting louder and with the wind blowing so strongly, I began to associate the increasingly stronger sound to a similar sound I had heard years before; a twister!
I sat up in bed and listened for a clue, but the the clues that told me it was something else, like a train, did not come. I was now fully awake and looking straight at the window, even though the curtains were drawn over it and there was nothing to see, a normal human reaction, facing the direction of the sound for our stereophonic audio system to attain the best reception and so that our keenest sense which the brain relies on most, may be able to gather more data and quickly, that is, of course, the eyes, which would be open and faced in the right direction already.
In my mind I was now planning my escape, reviewing the hotel's architecture and calculating the safest place to go. The noise seemed to be coming from the west and as such would likely miss the hotel ,I mused, but still, I would like to see it. I was just about to get out of the warm covers when I heard something new....a TRAIN HORN!
I assumed a sheepish grin and was glad for once to have not had the opportunity to have the visit of a tornado and glad I did not prematurely wake up my son who had just found sleep about 2 hours before.

I went to the store the next day to buy some groceries and a cheap coffee maker. It couldn't make up its mind whether it wanted to snow or ran, it finally decided to snow. It wasn't sticking and the temp was 34, but later, on the way home it was 32. Things weren't freezing yet, but I didn't care, I was goofing off inside for the rest of the day. I am ready for real spring weather, not winter's stale leftovers.

My latitude will not change much for the next 2 weeks, I will be going to Columbus and Philly or vise-versa, then back home for a awhile before going to the St Joseph area of Indiana, by Lake Michigan for about 2 weeks, hopefully, real spring weather will be here by then, and I will have a month to prepare for the Season.
My brother will now be concerned about Florida weather, as he has taken possession of a resort property on one of the Islands there on the SW coast, so I will have to pay special attention as I know he (as MSGAL Mr does) will be calling to confirm or deny the 'casting 'cast by the 'casters. If every Juan will remember, I called juan last year, at least up to a Florida landfall and successfully contracast the 'casters, (but not all of them). So, I still got it! (Although I totally bombed out later. It is the lament of all forecasters, the inability to be consistently on.)
So, I'll leave y'all to your individual weekend activities..do so in a safe and productive manner please, so you can remain a part of the Bunker, whether lurker or member.
    Thanks for your support!

While I was out eating dinner, I was able to see out the window, and it was pouring. I guess maybe it rained for only a few minutes, but there are a few small puddles left.

Best of luck with avoiding the snoh and cold Kid, we have been way below average for temps here and the snow ain't goin anytime soon.

~2 weeks before we head to the land around Lib, things are starting to look up temp wise for while we are there...at least the first part of it. Forecast has the UP in the low 40's when we fly out of Sault, Canada and mid to upper 50's when we land the following day in Glasgow. I''ll tell you this much...low 40's is damn balmy compared to what we have been having this April. Hell, the end of Febuary was warmer than this!

I need to sic my people on here to help me on a mission...I've been searching and messaging people to find out where they are filming a show in Scotland so I can surprise the wifey with a little unscheduled trip. She watches Outlander on Starz and I'm no closer today in finding a filming location than I was 6 months ago. Any help you guys want to throw my way is appreciated.

Good luck on the El Nino, I'd be in favor as I do have parents down there now and it might make us warmer here...it's friggin cold here man!

    Good Morning Bunkerites!

I didn't even know they were filming for Outlander, but it's been a long time since I even read the books. I did go to the battlefield at Culloden and that was very interesting and intense - really made the story from the books seem more real.

Let's hope that this never happens again, I can't even imagine the damage this would cause today......

Good morning, afternoon and evening, everyjuan! It's currently 38 with a feels like of 32 and supposed to get yet colder before the sun comes up. It was 42 with a feels like 32 an hour ago when I got up. We froze to death yesterday trying to temperament test dogs. That wind was bitter cold, I literally got home and sat under two blankets and drank coffee trying to get warm.

Breakfast’s on the sideboard: Beignets covered in powdered sugar, cheesy shrimp grits, Buttermilk bisquits with sausage gravy, scrambled or fried eggs, thick slices smoked honey ham, seasoned home fries, parmesan baked asparagus, crème brulee pain perdu, Praline-pecon French toast with butter and syrup, cinnamon praline pull apart bread, fresh fruit, tea or coffee. Enjoy!

    Morning Aislinn!

No sleeping in for you today I see, the only upside that I get out of waking so early is that you can get more done before the sun rises than most people do all day. Strange year - cold mighty late, I imagine Juan day it'll just be summer with no in between.

    BreakFast!

I'll have , Buttermilk bisquits with sausage gravy, scrambled or fried eggs, thick slices smoked honey ham, seasoned home fries, parmesan baked asparagus, and coffee - TYVM and try to stay warm!

Morning, Cone. Yep, I've been busy this morning and it's just barely 8 am. Going to work on some spring cleaning even though it's far from spring like outside.

    Good Sunday morning to all!

Sorry I'm a bit late this Sunday. Bunker insisted on another wok, and that started some neighborhood socializing.

It's actually quite cool here this AM Low 50°F s over night and this AM. Burned a fire last night. Probably the last of the season. We'll see....

Bunker Marys on the bar by the ice bucket. Help yourselves.
