August – The New May?

It’s the meat of the season and many pundits point to a quiet year. The MDR is cooler than last year but still has enough warmth to support some development, and the water is plenty warm enough near the US coast.

The NHC map could stay quiet for a lot of this month, but we shall have to watch it anyway……

There’s a long way to go and the peak is still over a month away – never ignore “The Chart”!

So, on we go - will there be….

….. or…..

I'm all in for the later, rather than the former - we shall have to wait and see what happens!

Tulsa! Congrats on the puppy! Luvs me some puppies.

I'm not sure what's so wrong with the Texas girl dating an alligator. Don't really see much material there that would get me in trouble.

However, I'll go all in on a storm named Debbie. I'll be banned by the BBCL no matter what Debbie eventually does. ...or doesn't.

    Good Morning Bunkerites!

Nuttin' going on in the weather this morning, especially here. We're in another dry patch and it's not going to end any time soon. US is pretty quiet as well....

3K, I take grave offense at the insult to my adorable puppy. But full honesty compels me to say there are 2Bengals in the house that completely agree with you.

Bart, you'll have to tell me how to get the picture to post in here and not have to have a link please. Busy day yesterday and another one today.

While at Jamestown Luke visited with the Potawans.

California needs to figure out a better plan on fires. In addition to the natural devastation and human tragedy insurance rates go nuts. I don’t know for sure if it affects everyone, but I’m convinced it gets passed on to all of us one way or another. There must be a better forest management plan to create some fire breaks or something. I may be naive. Some natural events you have very little control over. I just wonder given recent years crazy fire activity if they couldn’t come up with something that would at least create barriers to prevent such massive spreading. (Now everyone can tell me why that’s dumb!)

Many of the fires have been arson. Innfact, lightning is typically the only natual fire starter. You hit several items right on the head however T. Here is a good write up from today on the subject.

    Good Morning Bunkerites!

Still quiet. Too Quiet. Some small signs that we are getting into the heart of "The Season". SST's have been warming and Uncle Sal is showing some signs of staying at home in Afreeeca a little more instead of carousing in the ATL at all hours.

I was driving home from north Florida yesterday and the SAL over east Florida was very noticeable. As I was heading southeast on the Turnpike, east of Orlando, it looked like a milky brown haze across the horizon. It was tough to make out individual clouds (I almost thought I was driving into rain). As I drove further, I realized it was SAL and the sky wasn't cloudy at all, just really hazy. I guess it will clear soon and we will resume normal levels of DOOM.

    Morning HCat!

Morning discussion out of Miami mentions that it should be mostly gone for the weekend, but that there may be another dusty burst of dryness NEXT WEEK - which in this case will not be more interestinger. Maybe NEXT MONTH will be more interestinger, we shall see

Good morning, afternoon and evening, everyjuan! Thanks, Cone! We're continuing to get typical summer afternoon storms. My garden is loving it! But then so are the weeds....

After arriving at Jamestown and visiting there and the Potawan Village, Luke traveled on to Colonial Williamsburg. Due to time constraints in his time traveling, he was only able to see a small portion of it.

Breakfast’s on the sideboard: baked salmon eggs benedict, sausage and egg waffle tacos, bacon wrapped sausage stuffed pork tenderloin, pineapple chunks, spiced home fries, asparagus, chicken and cheese breakfast burritos, cornbread breakfast pizza, chicken and waffles casserole, ham, broccoli and cheese braid, bacon, egg and cheese strata, tea or coffee. Enjoy!

    Hey Cone,
It was a fun trip. I love historical sites, especially with re-enactments. I really want to go back to Williamsburg and spend a couple of days there. Luke is a big boy and he's just beginning to fill out.

Passes large platter of sausage and egg waffle tacos, bacon wrapped sausage stuffed pork tenderloin, pineapple chunks, spiced home fries, asparagus, chicken and cheese breakfast burritos, cornbread breakfast pizza, chicken and waffles casserole, ham, broccoli and cheese braid, bacon, egg and cheese strata, and a pot of coffee.

    Wow and Wow, Oss!

That firenado is a scary concept. Wouldn't want to be anywhere near one.

As for the Climate Change vs. Fires, very interesting. Glad to see some stats. What don't people get--the only thing certain in life is that everything changes.

Walked outside to pull a few weeds at around 6:30PM--a rather large handful--and am now dripping sweat.........it's summer, too summer.
