August – The New May?

It’s the meat of the season and many pundits point to a quiet year. The MDR is cooler than last year but still has enough warmth to support some development, and the water is plenty warm enough near the US coast.

The NHC map could stay quiet for a lot of this month, but we shall have to watch it anyway……

There’s a long way to go and the peak is still over a month away – never ignore “The Chart”!

So, on we go - will there be….

….. or…..

I'm all in for the later, rather than the former - we shall have to wait and see what happens!

    Good Morning Bunkerites!

The fire 'Nado in CA a few weeks back was a doozy

Nice and summery across the US this AM, nothing much happening weatherwise.....

Good morning, afternoon and evening, everyjuan! Been a busy week here, doing an interview a day all week and have two already scheduled for next week. I'm almost caught up with having been gone so much at the house, garden is next on the list to get caught up on. The only thing I can say about the firenados is may I never actually see one!

After leaving Colonial Williamsburg Luke traveled on to Harper's Ferry. He did some extra time traveling there, going from 1859 to 2018 back to 1859 when he got to ride on a public transport bus. That was a new one for me as well as I'd never ridden on one.

Sorry, I didn't take this picture and it's a little blurry.

Breakfast’s on the sideboard: poached eggs with tomatoes, avocado and basil, pork breakfast burritos, breakfast nachos, sea trout with smoked bacon, spicy pepperoni and smoked bacon, cheese and egg omelet, crème Brulee French toast with maple syrup on the side, breakfast Rueben sandwich, steak and eggs, fresh fruit, tea or coffee. Enjoy!

There's no such thing as an ugly puppy!
There are ugly human babies though, but the mother will never acknowledge that her baby is ugly, people around her may grimace, but she will just smile..
Take me for instance, when I was born, the doctor said, "Yep! He looks just like his father, now turn him over so we can see his face..."

    That firenado was awesome!
It's a nightmare looking thing! Like a bad dream for a storm chaser.
I bet Dewey could weigh in on that Juan.

Makes me hungry just thinking about it - BreakFast Time!

I'll just have snack of pork breakfast burritos, breakfast nachos, sea trout with smoked bacon, spicy pepperoni and smoked bacon, cheese and egg omelet, breakfast Rueben sandwich, steak and eggs, and some coffee - TYVM Aislinn and keep those pics coming of Luke the time traveler!

Yep, it always turned me SO hyper - just too much to do and so little time to get it done. I always wanted it to be the best year ever and at the same time was worried that I wouldn't get it done. Loved it and hated it all at the same time. So happy to see the first bus arrive and so ambivalent about the last bus to leave. Kinda like this place - the last bus is pulling in and I hate to see it coming, but the end is inevitable.

Well this should be interesting. Maybe Cone will be up in time? I will never make it here in SRQ to see it at 3 ish.....

    Howdy folks.

    Paonia Bunker Station is operational.

I was in Erie earlier and was too busy to check in. My brother bought a ranch near Paonia which I've never seen, so I came up here to see it and spend a little time. Nice place. Not fancy, but real big with a lot of land. It's on the south side of the Grand Mesa. Or about 45 mile west of Aspen as the crow flies. As the road goes it's about 95 miles because of the mountains.

Grand Mesa is Juan of my favorite fishing spots, but it's out of the way so I haven't fished it as much as I'd like to. Now that my bro has a place here I have an excuse to come to these parts. Grand Mesa is the largest mesa in the world. The top is between 10,000 & 11,000 feet and it's closed in winter. There are over 300 lakes on top, most of which have wild trout populations. Skeeters can be bad at times though.

It's currently 72. Getting into the 50s over night and about 90 during the day. Extremely dry by FL standards.

I'm gonna go fishing the next few days.

    Good Morning Bunkerites!

Nopee, I wasn't up in time for the launch - that's a bit too early. Sounds great Dr. Mark - I hope you catch a bunch, there isn't much better eating than those fresh trout - yummy!

NHC still has some yellow blobs on the map, but they aren't getting any model support.....

Good morning, afternoon and evening, everyjuan! LF, love that! I hadn't seen that one before. And agree with Cone, so excited for the first bus, beginning a new year, all the possibilities. Still miss my kids and teaching. I loved teaching. I do not miss the alarm at 4:30, the paperwork or the admins who all thought they knew my kids. Them- this child is nonverbal. Me- No, he does speak. Them- No, he doesn't. Really? When they start telling you what your children can do and not do and they don't know them it's time to retire. Now they keep trying to talk me into coming back. No thank you.

Mark, that sounds like a little piece of paradise.

Luke traveled to Ft Donelson and the civil war battle there. The soldiers built small 6 x 8 cabins for sleeping. Luke thought they were just the right size for him. The ultimate dog house.

Breakfast’s on the sideboard: Emu eggs Benedict, Chorizo, potato and green chili omelet, Bacon, asparagus, sweet potato frittata, scrambled or fried eggs, mutton sausage, Steak tips in gravy, fried potatoes with mushrooms, pancakes with syrup, bagels with cream cheese, lox or jelly, cinnamon oatmeal with fruit, tea and coffee.

Love that pic.! Can't imagine what it was like in that cabin, talk about your close quarters

    Time for some BreakFast!

I'll have Emu eggs Benedict, Chorizo, potato and green chili omelet, Bacon, asparagus, sweet potato frittata, scrambled or fried eggs, mutton sausage, Steak tips in gravy, fried potatoes with mushrooms, and coffee - TYVM!

Maybe, but only if Dewey comes around. The hosting will expire at the end of this month unless he pays it. I had paid it for the last 3 times, but will not do so again. I believe a lot of folks here put in $$ to keep the place going and it is only right that their $$ should be used to pay for it's continuation. I hope that will be the case, but nothing has really changed here, so I am a wee bit skeptical. Hopefully Dew will step in to prevent the curtain from falling.

In the meantime - here's to the Bunker!

Hey Cone, yeah, it wasn't big and probably quite hot in the summer.

Passes a large platter of Emu eggs Benedict, Chorizo, potato and green chili omelet, Bacon, asparagus, sweet potato frittata, scrambled or fried eggs, mutton sausage, Steak tips in gravy, fried potatoes with mushrooms, and a pot coffee.

Yawn, so I managed to be up for the launch at 330, that was delayed until after 4, and then scrubbed with under 2 minutes left in the countdown. I wanted to see the Delta heavy go up, but not bad enough to do that again tonight!

Morning rains here in SRQ have prohibited the yard work from getting done. Plan B search is in process! Good day all!

    "Social Media Intimidation

If you're new to it it may seem overwhelming. Whether it is in science, weather, sports, politics, social topics, or otherwise. People may appear to know what they're talking about when in reality very few have proven such. Most of what you read is highly opinionated, of little to no factual basis, with ulterior motives frequently driving the narrative.

Every tweet framed as an undeniable bastion of fact. The authors may come across as one not to trifle with when they approach others in a nasty and aggressive manner.

Truth is it is all a facade. A game of tricks meant to either give folks grief for personal entertainment or to spread disinformation to support one's narrow minded agenda.

Once you spot it, once you take note of specific individuals and their intent and methodology, you can see it coming from a mile away. It is robotic, it is thoughtless, it is of little to no value to you the reader to entertain.

Many think they're slick, as if their underhanded approach is not visible, because they're on autopilot without challenge. They get their likes and retweets and replies of support. They grow a large follower base and some even get the blue check of authority. They take on an aura of invincibility. A reputation of excellence is developed. Yet it is all propped up on a straw man fueled by the support of other feeble minds.

In the end once you know what is coming and why it is like shooting fish in a barrel. It is a wall that one can easily tear down.

A shame, a waste, and an embarassment. While folks think they're on some crusade for the greater good it really has become just a childish and boring daily mantra. Welcome to the new wave of the internet established 2015....born on the backs of your late 80s and early 90s Viacom brainchild "Reality TV".

Our elders warned us this filth would rot our brains and our souls. I am not certain they know just how right they were. Many of you live a daily lie. Emulating programming that has been force fed into your mind for decades.

Who is the real "you"? Do you even know? Sometimes I truly wonder if individuality exists beyond a select few as most seem to be a product of their environment rather than the creative free thinkers we were born to be. Following a script devised by and narrated by someone else.

It is both shocking how easily folks have had their lives crafted by these disgusting outside influences and exacerbating how willing so many are to behave in such a manner.

This is life. There is no stage laugh track button being pushed every time you post something "witty" on social media. I know the platforms give you the perception of such through their little numerical counters and trackers but it is all a fictional construct. It does not exist in reality. It only does so in your mind because you've been coerced into believing so.

You are a product. A hit counter. A ratings value for ad revenue. For a select few truly insidious minds you are a puppet passing along their propaganda. You're not in their hearts. Their final goal does not and will not include you. You've been duped to accept otherwise. That is the plan. That has always been the plan.

It has become a runaway train of bull****. It is not even circling any drain. It is plunging at an acclerated rate into a bottomless pit of despair. Enjoy! "
