I moved to Idaho in '93 to get away from it all and start fresh. I love the outdoors and try to get out hunting and fishing every chance I get. Feel free to post a pic or tell a story.

Check it out!

The Henry's Fork

Not a fish, not a fishstorm, the mighty Wapati.

Hell of a hunt that day near Leadore. Didn't wack an elk but still a great hunt. Got really close to one that bugled almost all day.

Nice 'lope out on the "Big Desert" west of Aberdeen.

  5. PrivateIdaho's Avatar
Just did a european mount. I want to shoot one a little bigger for the wall.

European mount...is that the skull and rack? My dad is a retired Federal Fish and Wildlife Officer so I have a wee bit of knowledge in that area, although I have forgotten quite a bit!

Hope you get the big one!

Can I ask the dumb, city slicker question?

How do you get that hairy, walking refrigerator out of the woods?

Hey PI, I've many a memory growing up in central Missouri fishing in the local ponds/lakes/rivers. I think the first fish story that comes to mind is crappie season. My dad and I would sit on the bank of the lake, cast our poles with bobbers, and get hits literally every cast. I swear we caught 50 crappie in an hours time. As long as the fish are biting I can hang all day. No bites = get me the hell out of there in an hour. Good memories

    You carry it out.

When I shot that bull we were in about 2.5 miles from the trailhead. Me and my buddy skinned, gutted, and quartered it that evening. I carried out the back strap and tenderloin in my daypack and carried the Rack out over my shoulders.

My buddy carried out a front quarter over his shoulder.

3 of us went in the next morning and carried the other 3 quarters out.

I lived south of Lawrence Ks for many of my H.S. years. Fished a lot of farm ponds and reserviors so I know what you are talking about. When the crappie are biting it's hard not to catch one!

Here's how I got the 'lope out. I forgot my game bags so the front half is in my shirt....hehehe

And you thought your were having a bad day. This bison fell in a hot pool in Yellowstone and was badly burned....the Griz likes his beefalo parboiled....

Good lord. What I'd give to see that dumb ass creature fall into the boiling pit of water. LOL

If it knew what was good for it it would have just stayed in there and cooked to death. That's got to be easier on the nerves than getting mauled by a bear.

Now it gets to do both.

Fair enough. I'd be looking for something near a road... although I think that might be illegal.

My DH lived in the very far north for ten years. A group would go hunting and whatever was taken was skinned and butchered on the trail. Everyone got a share (sometimes someone would want hide rather than meat) and the 'leftovers' were for the wolves.

We need to have a caption contest with this pic.

I'll start with "Please make sure your bag fits in the overhead bin, or underneath the seat in front of you"
